The Bannockburn neighborhood began in the 1940’s when an organization called Group Housing Cooperative bought the 124-acre Bannockburn golf course with the intent of establishing a cooperative housing community. In 1978, a book about Bannockburn’s founding and history was compiled by several of the original residents (which was updated in 1984).
